Semester Break: Internship

As per the requirements of the syllabus and PTU, the students have to done the internship in various industries as per the course requirements. The students of BCA and BMCT 2nd semester have to go for the internship to learn the tech-knowhow of the industry practically. The student will acquire the new skills which helps them to grab the opportunities.

Field/Exposure Visit to Incubation Unit, Transfer Centre, Co- Working Spaces

As per the scheme requirement of the Syllabus of the university, the students has to visit the various companies for the industry working exposure and meeting with industry experts on the workplace. Follow the same the institution has organised industrial visits and filed visits for providing the extended learning to the students. The PCBT Phagwara has organised the various industrial visits time to time for the various final year classes with the objective to provide the industrial touch and make them industry ready.

Toy-Hackathon

With over 400 attendees, HackPCBT1.0 is a hackathon aimed at college students from across the country. We want to create a fantastic environment for attendees to learn, grow, and share their knowledge, skills, and talents. For 24 hours, teams will collaborate to develop tomorrow's technologies to solve modern problems.

Workshop On Innovation and Entrepreneurship, A Drive to Build Businessman

Department of Management, PCBT, has organised a one day workshop on developing innovative ideas and turn the ideas into actual in the way to develop the micro business. Dr. Tajinder Kumar has inaugurated the session with throwing the light on the innovation and finding the opportunities in the environment for turning the opportunities into operations. Afterwards, Dr Sanjay Kumar Behal, has exploring the flawless experience and examples of the successful ideas. Moreover, in this event the experts from academics and industry have shared their valuable views on to be an entrepreneur.

Workshop on “Android Studio using Java Language”

One day workshop on "Android Studio using Java Language" was organized by O7 Services, Jalandhar. Around 30 students from BCA VI Sem participated in the workshop. In this workshop, students learnt how to develop an application in android using the Java Platform. The Resource persons of the Workshop were Ms. Amanpreet Kaur, Sr. Mobile Developer, and Mr. Ravi, Android Developer and UI/UX designer. Practical implementation was also followed by the session. An online test was conducted for the students as a preliminary round for placement, in which seven students got selected for the next round.

Workshop on “Key strategies in Digital Marketing”

Computer Applications Department organized one day workshop on "Key strategies in Digital marketing." Around 100 students from Information Technology and Management departments participated in the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to make students aware of the different market strategies in Digital marketing, like how to promote and advertise your products through different digital platforms. The Resource person of the Workshop was Dr. Ajay Dutta, HOD, Department of computer science & applications, Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar. Mr. Dutta focused on the relevance of digital marketing in this corporate era. He further emphasized how business connects their customers through SEO&PPC. Practical implementation was also done. Participation certificates were distributed to all the students.

Webinar on Metaverse Technology

A webinar was organized by Expoodle Company, Noida. The main objective of the webinar was to give knowledge about the latest technology to build a great career. The Key speakers of the webinar were Mr. Rahul Sethi, Co-founder, Expoodle, Mr. Raghav Krishnan, Head XR solutions, Expoodle, and Mr. Deepankar Saxena, Asst Manager Campus. They talked about a solution we are calling a "private metaverse"-how we can leverage this exceptional technology to allow people to come together and interact in a shared, immersive, virtual space. They also discussed the use cases of L&D applications, HCP education, patient education, and the roadmap. Students from all the departments participated in the webinar.

Industrial visit to OXO solutions

The Computer Applications Department of Pyramid College conducted an Industrial visit to OXO solutions, Amritsar. Around 54 students visited the company to explore the working environment in an IT company. OXO is an emerging software solution Provider and IT Company empowering small businesses to large-scale industrial groups and has been serving clientele around the globe for over a decade. With an aim to go beyond academics, this industrial visit provides students with a practical perspective of the Multinational Company and the current technologies. Students were addressed on the current industry trends and areas in demand, including Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cloud, IoT, Blockchain Technology, Cyber Security, etc. Students interacted in the session by raising queries regarding technology, internships, and recruitment opportunities at the company. This was followed by a tour of the campus. It was indeed a very informative visit for everyone.

Skyach and Technaitra Campus Placement Drives

Campus Placement Drive by Skyach and Technaitra was conducted for the Computer Applications Department of Pyramid College of Business and Technology. Undergraduate students of the computer application course of the college participated in the drive. Skyach Software Solutions is a global provider of high-quality, cost-effective software and web development services. The company offers a range of expertise aimed at helping customers re-engineer and re-invent their businesses to compete successfully in the ever-changing marketplace. Mr. Rohit Mohan (HR Manager) and Mr. Harpreet Singh (Project Manager) were present on the occasion. The selection procedure started with the company description by the HR Manager, followed by an interview session. Seventeen students appeared for the interview, and 4 were selected from BCA with a fine salary package of 3 LPA.

Programming Week

Information & Technology department of Pyramid College of business and technology organized "Programming Week" from 28th march to 1st April. The purpose of this event was to enrich programming skills for students and it was an ideal platform for the students who wish to pursue education on a self-learning pace. All the students of IT department participated in this event with enthusiasm and zeal.

Students of BCA were given knowledge about various programming languages- C, C++, computer graphics, logical Circuit designing, and Web designing using PhP. Programming week was conducted by the College faculty members of the IT department. it was concluded with the certification to students.

Workshop on “Computer Hardware and Networking” and “Computer Networking and IT audit”

Pyramid College of Business and Technology's IT department conducted two-day workshops on "Computer Hardware& Networking" and "Computer Networking and IT audit." The workshop was conducted by technical industrial experts. Students attended 50 hours of training and hands-on session on computer networking and IT audit and also 60 hours of training on PC assembly and troubleshooting.

The objective of these workshops was to acquaint the students with the basic principles, developments, and research trends in the area of Computer Hardware & Networking. The workshops covered the perfect combination of theory and practical sessions in a well-balanced manner. These Workshops helped students improve their technical skill set and employability, and the faculty members improved teaching methodology and efficiency. Ten students actively participated with lots of zeal and enthusiasm and got certification. The workshops were conducted systematically.

Shape the Ideas (Innovative Business PrototypeModels)

A competition on “Business Plan Prototype Competition” was organized at PCBT, Phagwara, on 16.03.2021 at 12:00 pm in the College. The competition was judged by Dr. Tajinder Kumar, Mr. Sahibjit Singh and Ms. Navjot Kaur, HODs of PCBT and student of PCBT presented the prototype on various themes related to Business, Animation Multimedia and IT.

How to plan for Start-up and legal & Ethical Steps

A Webinar on "How to plan for Start-up and legal & Ethical Steps" was organized on 1st March 2021 on Google meet platform. The resource person was Dr. Dhanjay Pathak, Assistant professor, Advocate Manjot kaurmember of bar council. Dr. Amarjeet Singh introduced the concept of start-up and addressed to the common problems faced in a start-up venture. The Webinar proved to be successful witnessing 250 registered participants. The webinar was co- ordinated by Dr Amarjeet Singh and Dr Tajinder Jassal.

Orientation Session

We all knew the importance of inculcating innovation and start up promoting activities in the campus as it is the main booster to mould the student community into strong and competent entrepreneurs for a better future. So here comes the relevance of implementing National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) 2019 in the college.

So in order to give more information about NISP 2019, ED Club in association with Institute‟s Innovation Council has conducted an orientation session on “NATIONAL INNOVATION AND STARTUP POLICY” on 27.03.2021. Dr. Tajinder Kumar, Assistant Professor Management, Dr. Vivek Mittal, and Mr. Vishal Garg was the keynote speaker of the session.

In her session, She presented the National Innovation and Start up Policy 2019 in a simple way. She also interacted with the students to spread the awareness about the importance of starting their own startups during their academic period. Total of 110 students and faculty members were benefited by the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Dr.Amarjeet Singh, IQAC Coordinator and IIC Ambassador, and Ms. Sunanda Sharma., Convener, IIC.

Successful Start-up founders (Entrepreneurs in campus)

Interactive Session with “Successful Start-up founders (Entrepreneurs in campus) on 12-04-2021 in Google meet at 10:30 AM. The event started with a welcome address by Mr. Sahibjit Singh, HoD Animation Department at PCBT campus, assistant professor/ management and who gave a brief introduction about this session. Our distinguished alumnus, Sukhdeep Singh MBA, supervisor at MSAERK shipping (Canada), having 2018- 2020 batch was the eminent speaker for this interactive session. He had shared their experience and interact with participants. Participants had a good understanding of how to create a company and what paperwork must be prepared for registration as a result of this interactive workshop. The event was supported by a vote of gratitude from the attendees, who provided feedback and asked for additional events geared toward startup development. This interactive workshop was attended by 65 students from diverse departments. Finally, the session ended at 12:35 PM.

Dr. Vivek Mittal, Director of pyramid college of Business and technology, inaugurated the session by emphasizing the importance of informing students, faculty, and startups about patent laws and how to protect their intellectual assets.

Advocate Geeta Gulati was the keynote speaker.Advocate Geeta Gulati is a member of bar council at Jalandhar, Punjab. she went over the steps involved in filing a patent application as well as the different sorts of patent applications. she explained how numerous provisional applications work and what happens after the application is completed. The title and description of the invention are included in the provisional specification. If the complete specification is not filed within 12 months after the date of the initial provisional application, it will be abandoned. After 18 months from the earliest priority date, the patent application is published in the official journal. Patent protection begins on the date of application

She addressed the publication patent's chronology and withdrawal. The application may be withdrawn within 15 months of its filing date. She further states that unless an application is published and a request for inspection is filed, the patent office will not review it. The application request must be filed within 48 months of the filing date. She shed some light on the First Examination Report (FER), including how and what it comprises. The response to FER must be received within six months. She also discussed the Controller's decision and the patent's denial. When the applicant resubmits the document within the time frame specified, the application is reexamined.If no pre-grant opposition is filed, the patent is issued. The controller's decision to deny the patent is binding on the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB). No patent is denied without an opportunity to be heard. The hearing takes place at the patent office, via video conferencing, or through audio-visual communication technologies. The controller then makes the ultimate decision. At the end, she administered a brief quiz to assess the attendees' comprehension; many correctly answered. The event was a success.

Dr. Prem Dhingra, Director STEP Ludhiana, participated as the resource person of the program. During the session, He discussed why the business model is critical for every firm looking to grow. He gave various examples of well-known Indian and multinational corporations and their success.

He also stated that the business model canvas addresses four major aspects of every venture: consumers, service, infrastructures, and financial sustainability. He also identified nine building components that characterize and evaluate a company model, including target markets, product attributes, and channels, relationships with customers, income sources, basic resources, core capabilities, strong partnerships, and pricing policies.

Students, faculty, and staff from the institute attended in substantial populations and connected with the subject matter expert. Dr. Tajinder Jassal welcomed all the participants.

The outcome of the workshop:

  • This will help students to do need analysis for a new venture.
  • It will motivate students to understand how to develop a business plan.
  • Students will be sensitized to choose entrepreneurship for future.
